    Coaching

Personal coaching (or life coaching) is a focused conversation between the coach and you, with the purpose of helping you to achieve your goals. It will enable you to realise your dreams by clarifying what you want, identifying what is stopping you, coming up with options and deciding what you want to do about it. Coaching provides the support you need to move you forward from where you are now to where you want to be.

    Wellbeing coaching

Wellbeing coaching is specialised life coaching that concentrates on diet, fitness and general wellbeing goals.

    Coaching sessions

Coaching sessions take about 45 minutes and are normally over the phone or the internet. A Higher Porpoise offers wellbeing coaching with or without an Enneagram focus.

    The coach

Jane Carlton, MSc, BSc(hons), GradDipPsych, has trained as an Enneagram teacher with Helen Palmer and David Daniels, qualifying in 2002, and is a member of the Association of Enneagram Teachers in the Narrative Tradition (AET). She also has a Certificate in Personal Coaching from The Coaching Academy.

    Enneagram coaching

I also offer Enneagram coaching, either in conjunction with wellbeing coaching or separately. Enneagram coaching uses a knowledge of the Enneagram to help identify your strengths and weaknesses and what is important to you. It can also help you to understand how your personality can sometimes get in the way of achieving your goals and dreams, and what you can do about this.

Enneagram typing interview and introductory session

A series of Enneagram coaching sessions will start with an Enneagram typing interview and introductory session. This takes 1.5 to 2 hours and is best done face to face, although it is possible to do it over the phone or in a virtual environment. It starts with a discussion of what you hope to gain from coaching, what issues you would like to address and what goals you would like to achieve - even if your first goal is deciding what you want!

The next stage is an Enneagram typing session where I ask you questions about yourself. When this is done we can discuss possibilities for what type you are. This is not always obvious straight away (occasionally it is) and is something only you can really know as you are the only expert on yourself. The usual result would be me giving you a couple of types to look at and think about.

The rest of the interview is a discussion of where to go next, referring back to the goals discussed in the first part of the interview. We would talk about why your goals are important to you and what obstacles are in the way of achieving them. You would then come up with your own personal action plan. You might find that the initial interview is enough to get you on the right track or you might want to book a series of follow-up coaching sessions to help you stay focused and make your dreams a reality.

    Standalone Enneagram typing interview

This is a one-hour interview for those who desire help in establishing their Enneagram personality type but are not immediately interested in pursuing coaching.

    Other Enneagram training

    Group teambuilding

The weekend "Introduction to the Enneagram" workshop is suitable for groups of any size to improve team dynamics by learning about each other's different ways of thinking, feeling and acting. It includes lectures, group exercises and breakout discussions.

    Small group interaction reports

Suitable for teams of up to 10 people, these reports enable small teams to improve communication and productivity by understanding how different types work together, possible areas of friction, what causes these and how they can be resolved. Each member of the group is interviewed personally and gets an individual report on their own personality type and how that type interacts with other types in the group. This will be followed up by a group discussion to share what has come up and talk about how to use the information gained to enhance group communication in the future.
