A Higher Porpoise Tai Chi

Welcome to A Higher Porpoise. My name is Jane Carlton and I teach tai chi in the Wigan and Leigh area in the Northwest of England. This is me:

I started practising tai chi in the mid-1990s when some friends recommended a class they went to. I was quite unhealthy when I started out as I was recovering from glandular fever, and I could feel an improvement in my health straight away. I have always done Yang style and I find the large, slow, flowing movements suit me. I started teaching in 2009 and am an instructor member of the Deyin Taijiquan Institute, the British Health Qigong Association and the Tai Chi Union of Great Britain. Below is a picture of me with my teacher, Master Faye Li Yip.

The classes I teach are on the modern standard Yang-style forms - sometimes the 24-step form but also the short short 8 and 16 step forms - also ba duan jin and yi jin jing qigong and 16-step sword form. My ongoing classes are listed here. You can also check out my tai chi blog where I will put information for classes and other tai chi stuff.

With my friend Baji from Second Life I have also recorded a meditation cd of short poetic visualisations for relaxation and self-acceptance.
